Dear Students,
Happy new year! Wireless@Virginia Tech in the Bradley Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering has few research positions available
for MS/PhD students and post-docs, starting this January 2021. The hired
personnel will have opportunity to actively participate in applying machine
learning to 5G/next-G wireless research projects, contribute to solving
challenging problem in Computer Science, Engineering, and Optimization with
cutting-edge applications, gain hands-on experience in building systems and
experimenting with them, and above all, expand their creative horizon
beyond course work. Mentored by passionate faculties, the hired personnel
will have opportunity to write scholarly articles to publish their research
work in reputed conferences and journals. The research will be conducted
under the supervision of Dr. Vijay K. Shah and Jeffrey H. Reed.
Following are few potential research projects that the hired personnel will
be contributing to -
- AI-driven 5G Networks for Enabling Real-time, Online Networked Music
Collaboration
- Optimizing 5G Communications for Power Grid Systems
- 5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) enhanced NR-V2X for Autonomous
Intersection Management
- Intelligent RAN System Design for O-RAN Compatible 5G and Beyond
Networks
- Millimeter-wave based UAV Communications

Congratulations to the students and faculty members from the Discovery
Analytics Center who led the "DeepOutbreak" team that won the COVID-19
Symptom Data Challenge sponsored by Facebook and other partners, results
for which were announced in December.
