Graduate student funding update (your input needed!)
Dear CS Graduate Students, Happy New Year 2025! On behalf of the CS Graduate Council, we wish you a productive and successful year ahead. As we prepare for the Spring 2025 semester, we understand that some of you are still awaiting updates regarding funding. This situation is far from ideal, and the department is actively working to address the funding challenges. Below, we have compiled a few updates for your information: 1. As part of the department's continuous improvement efforts for GTA rankings, we have been asked to provide input for GTA positions. To gather your feedback, we invite you to complete the survey linked below. Your thoughts and insights are invaluable in shaping this process: Google Form Linkhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1yLXxqcBVr5Pp6TRRvrPcqcSap_f6aNyufcqkFFi7M_g Please note that while our input may or may not directly influence the ranking process in the future (beyond Spring 2025), it will contribute to a more thoughtful and well-rounded approach. 1. At the last faculty meeting, Dr. Julien proposed a set of policies for the department going forward, to avoid funding situations like this in future semesters. If you have any questions or comments about these proposed directions, Dr. Julien welcomes your feedback. Kindly keep this document within the CS graduate student group. If you wish to share it outside the group for any reason, please seek permission from Dr. Julien. 1. For those looking for funding for this semester or upcoming semesters, Sara has compiled a list of funding sources, copied at the end of this email. If any of the positions align with your skills and interests, we encourage you to explore and apply for them. Thank you for taking the time to share your input on the GTA ranking process. We wish you all a wonderful semester ahead!
