Glebe Road | Arlington, VA 22203 *Date & Time: *Monday, March 26, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (EDT) *EVENT URL: * *https://www.eventbrite.com/e/iarpa-seminar-series-on-science-intelligence-and-security-dan-geer-tickets-43618364703* <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/iarpa-seminar-series-on-science-intelligence-a…> *Description: * You are invited to hear Dan Geer speak on “Forecasting an Uncertain Future: Cybersecurity Challenges to Come.” The seminar will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, March 26, 2018. This will be the 33rd session in a seminar series sponsored by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) on “Science, Intelligence and Security.” As with previous sessions, the seminar will be held at the Virginia Tech Research Center, 900 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia. Parking is available in the basement of the building. The building is walking distance from the "Ballston/MU" station on the Orange/Silver Line. Dan Geer is a security researcher with a quantitative bent. He is an electrical engineer (MIT), a biostatistician (Harvard), and someone who thinks truth is best achieved by adversarial procedures (school of hard knocks). He serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at In-Q-Tel. Among other things, his staff produced Kerberos and the X Window System, his cybersecurity consulting firm was the first on Wall Street, and he and a colleague run the Index of Cyber Security. He received the USENIX Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 and was inducted into the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame in 2016. See http://geer.tinho.net/pubs for his public work. We expect Dan to speak for about 30 minutes and then take questions for another 45 minutes. He will be available for an informal discussion after his presentation, which is strictly off-the-record and not for attribution. Please submit your online RSVP if you wish to attend. We look forward to seeing you at the seminar. Jason Matheny, IARPA Director, and Richard Danzig, Seminar Moderator
