Hi all— As I mentioned during the call, I did have a discussion with DHS Office of Policy/Immigration Statistics. They offered to attend a Teams or other virtual meeting with us to discuss the models, lessons and sources they use, which I believe could be helpful. I will follow-up on timing. They suggested a couple other sites/sources, as below: First off, here is the country-year data resource I mentioned: The International Political Economy Data Resource - Harvard Dataverse<https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/X0…> The homicide data I mentioned comes from UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime). GDP per capita and unemployment rate are easy to find from a variety of sources. The World Bank’s World Development Indicators is a great resource. I am still waiting on the more recent CBP data. Hi Brian, In addition to the CBP data you mention, DHS also puts out the ‘Border Security Metrics Report’ each year. Part of the report details their methodology & model to estimate ‘detected and undetected unlawful entries’, which is of interest given how much we focus on apprehensions and would factor into to prediction. We can also kick around the DHS Office of Immigration Statistics during the call—they have a fair amount of info on lawful entries—though not sure if it is categorized by SW border. Tim From: Mark B.
