If you are getting this email, then I believe that you either were
previously admitted to CS@VT and asked to defer admission to Spring 2021,
or you are a new applicant whom the CS Department has asked the Graduate
School to admit. Collectively, you are somewhat a broad audience, so there
are a number of points below.
* If you are a new applicant for Spring 2021, you should have received
email from the Grad School directing you to the Student Portal for your
decision letter. A small number of new applicants are still stuck in some
part of the Grad School admissions process. Let me know if that applies to
you, and I will try to let you know the situation.
* If you have not done so already, please go to the Student Portal and fill
out the Offer of Admission Reply form. For students who asked to defer to
Spring 2021, I think that they want you to do this as well. The Grad School
application system changed this semester, so I am not certain if they have
the form for you or not.
* If you are declining admission, please let me know so that I can take you
off of my email list and stop spamming you.
* If you received this email at something other than your @vt.edu address,
it means that I don't know that address. Please let me know what it is! If
you have not yet gotten your @vt.edu address, then please do this soon. See
information on this and other useful things for new students at
https://graduateschool.vt.edu/admissions/getting-started-as-a-student.html.
* PhD/MS Students: If you would like to apply for a GTA position for
Spring, please fill out the survey at https://hosting.cs.vt.edu/gta/. Even
if you have been promised a GTA position already, you should still fill out
the form. It serves both as an application for a GTA, and as information to
Mr. Barnette (who manages the GTA positions) about what courses you are
qualified for. If you already filled out a survey for Spring 2021, then you
do not need to do it again. Note that MEng students are not eligible for a
GTA position.
