Sanghani Colleagues, Via our VT-CNH collaboration, there is available a postdoc position focused on computer vision for surgical scene understanding. The candidate will be housed at the Children's National Hospital DC campus and will work closely with a clinical collaborator as a research team lead. The right candidate will have a PhD dissertation focused on computer vision with publications in relevant places like CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, etc. Starting date: ASAP Expected salary: 120-140K depending on experience If you have a graduating student or know of anybody, please ask them to contact me with a CV. CAIA Scholarship

All, As mentioned in the faculty meetings we'd like to hold a sort of mixer with some CAIA faculty to initiate some conversation and ideas for the PhD/Research scholarship proposals. If you are interested and would attend such a session please reply to me (and Robin) and let us know. We could do a lunch time session on different days or maybe find another good time to meet. Or if you have another idea let me know. We'd like to do this before the end of the semester rush if possible. Welcome to attend the invited talks at CS 6804: Trustworthy LLMs

Dear colleagues, I hope your semester is going well. I have launched a seminar course on "Trustworthiness of Large Language Models". If you are interested, please feel free to check out our course materials on this website<https://xuanwang91.github.io/2024-1-16-seminar>. We have arranged five invited talks from 4/10 - 4/24. You and your students are warmly welcome to attend these talks and engage with the speakers if you find them intriguing. The classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm. All the talks will take place on my Zoom: https://virginiatech.zoom.us/j/8682759193. Below is a brief overview of our invited speakers and topics: 1. Yu Meng (4/10, Wed): Assistant Professor, University of Virginia. Yu will talk about general training algorithms/applications of LLMs. 2. Jessica Newman (4/15, Mon): Founder and Director of the AI Security Initiative, UC Berkeley. Jessica is the author of the popular report "A Taxonomy of Trustworthiness for Artificial Intelligence<https://cltc.berkeley.edu/publication/a-taxonomy-of-trustworthiness-for-art…>”. Jessica will first introduce the US National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) and then talk about AI Trustworthiness and Risk Management. 3. Haohan Wang (4/15, Wed): Assistant Professor, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Haohan will talk about their recent work on jailbreaks in large language models. 4. Ziang Xiao (4/22, Mon): Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University. Ziang will talk about human-centered AI with LLMs and their recent work on AI chatbots for information seeking. 5. Boxin Wang (4/24, Wed): Research Scientist, Nvidia. Boxin will talk about their recent work, DecodingTrust, providing a comprehensive assessment of trustworthiness in GPT models (NeurIPS 2023 Outstanding Paper Award).
