MITRE is executing a big recruitment push – looking for about 200
early-career staff, US citizens able to obtain government
suitability/security clearances, able to start between January and August
2026. (VT is one of their top-five feeder schools.)
In terms of degree level, they're looking for ~25% BS, 50% MS, and 25%
PhD. Big geographic hubs are DC and Boston metros, but they do have other
locations (Colorado Springs, Huntsville, San Antonio, San Diego, etc) that
could be possible depending on candidate geography.
Skill areas:
- CS – cyber, AI, data, software engineering
- ECE – electronics, signal processing, semiconductors
- Other – chem-bio engineering, physics, aerospace/ocean engineering
